H.P.R. Home Boarding is a family run business that specialises in home boarding for working breeds. We know how much time and effort it takes to train your dog and how quickly they can pick up bad habits. Our aim and focus is to not just care for your dog by providing a safe and loving environment where they can thrive but to also maintain his performance in the field.
We are fully insured, licenced and OFQAL qualified in the care, behaviour and welfare of dogs.
We welcome your dog into our home and look forward to building a good relationship with dog and owner.
Home Boarding
We encourage all dogs, where possible, to take part in all activities during their stay.
We provide plenty of enrichment as well as caring for them as one of our own.
A typical day consists of an early morning greeting and breakfast followed by some supervised play as they meet any new four-legged guests that arrive.
We then continue the interaction, training and puzzles until mid morning when we leave for a nice long, energetic country walk. We are lucky to have access to fields, woods and forests where the dogs have a lot of freedom to run and play.
In the afternoon and evening we either go for another walk or encourage garden play/ training. We are lucky to have a large enclosed back garden which allows dogs to exhaust any energies they may have left from the day.
Training
Here at H.P.R. we take safety extremely seriously, not just in our home but also when we go out on our adventures. We encourage some very basic training with all our guests to start with so that we can assess, incorporate and maintain this training during their stay with us.
The dogs also partake in mini mental exercises. These are fun and rewarding. We also find that these exercises help focus the dog's attention on us. This has a two-tier benefit in that they are more receptive to commands when we go out which can tire them more than intensive exercise.
If you are experiencing minor issues and have a routine, please be sure to let us know so that we can work on this together whilst they are with us.
Walking
Dogs are walked at one of the many fields, farms, woods and forests nearby.
We will speak to you prior to your dog's stay in order to ascertain their usual routine at home. We will do our best to maintain the exercise they are accustomed to.
Obviously we are aware that some dogs we care for may be approaching old age or suffer with certain health conditions which may prevent them from walking long distances. Please be assured that each dog is treated as an individual and will be exercised in accordance within their own capabilities.
